Keeping your Roof Healthy and Signs of Damage to a Flat Roof

Roofs come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and all perform an important job – stopping the weather from entering the building, and also protecting the heat inside the building and stopping it from getting out. A roof is one of the most important parts of your home, but due to the difficulty accessing it, it is also one of the most overlooked parts.

Checking the roof regularly is important as it is how you will be able to spot potential problems from occurring before they become big and expensive things to fix! You can get the help of a professional like Cheltenham roofing company Storm Roofing if you are not able to get up to your roof and check up on it.

One type of roof that has its own unique set of problems is a flat roof. These are easier and cheaper to build, and there are lots of buildings in the UK with a flat roof, but if you own a building with this type of roof it is especially important that you maintain it regularly and keep an eye on it for problems that may be occurring.

Here are a few things to look out for on a flat roof…

Cracks – Because flat roofs have to hold a lot more pressure than the sloping roof, where everything can just roll off they are susceptible to strain and cracks forming on the roof.

Pooling Water – This is another bad sign, and it means that you may well get a leak inside the building if the water is allowed to continue pooling on the roof.

Buckling – Sometimes as a house settles it can move – this leads to the roof buckling a little and moving – which can cause damage if left unrepaired.
