Home Remedies To Help You Remove Paint From Carpet

Spilling paint on the carpet shouldn’t be difficult or expensive to remove. While there are a myriad of cleansers and solutions that use harsh chemicals to get the job done, you don’t need to go that route just yet.

If you want to get rid of paint that has splashed your home carpeting, there are some simple home remedies that can do the trick without putting in a significant amount of time and effort towards completing the task. In just about every situation, all you need is some mild dish soap, a little bit of hot or warm water, and a dry cloth or sturdy paper towels.

The next time you drop paint on the carpet, try these solutions for cleaning up the mess before you take steps that require heavy equipment and potent cleaners. But the type of solution you will need to choose depends on the type of paint you’ve splashed and and how much of it has hit the carpet.

So don’t panic, you can lift that mess right up. Just remember, never wipe a stain, always blot it instead. If you don’t you’ll only be making the mess even worse and you don’t want that to happen.

Water-Based and Latex Paint Stains

In every case, you will have much more success in picking up paint from the carpet if you are able to get to the stain before it dries. That way you can be more effective in preventing the mess from lingering on long after the incident has come and gone.

But if you discover the accident after it has fully dried, you will need to mix dish soap into some hot water and apply the two directly on the stain. Allow it to remain on the affected area for a few minutes. Just remember not to douse the carpet with water as too much moisture can create problems underneath the materials. If you’re dealing with latex paint, dab at the stain with the water and soap mixture and work your way in from the outer edges.

After you clear out the stain, you should vacuum the area but only after the spot has dried entirely.

Oil-Based Paint Stains

Getting to this type of paint while it’s still wet will be very helpful in eliminating it from the carpet. But if you discovered well after it’s dried, then you will need hand-held steamer or something else that produces heated steam. Don’t bother with water as it won’t be as effective.

But be mindful about the amount of steam and heat you apply as too much can damage the fibers of the carpet. You should also be mindful of the force you use in lifting the paint off the surface. If you are too forceful and severe in the task, that could also have a lasting negative impact on the look and feel of your pricey floor covering.

If you try these home remedies and none of them are successful in eradicating that stain, then it might be time to call All Pro Chem-Dry Denver and have one of our professionals come to your home, diagnose the stain, and eliminate it as if nothing ever happened.
