Ready mix suits some jobs more than bagging out their own concrete, and it is useful to know the situations when ready mix is better.
Large Slabs and Foundations
Most large slabs and all floor and strip foundations are better made with ready mix concrete. Any pour of about half a cubic metre or so and above is too big to make with bags and a hired mixer that you have hired for the job. The mix never comes out quite right as you finish off each batch.
Time-Critical Pours
As previously stated, Ready Mix has a working window, and the bigger the job, this window can close very quickly. On such projects, it is far better to allow your team to concentrate on screeding and finishing the work, rather than mixing out a large quantity of Ready Mix Concrete, which is best poured in one continuous pour.
Specified Structural Mixes
Some jobs for example foundations and other reinforced elements require a certain strength grade (e.g. C25 or C30) as per the building regulations. It is easy to guarantee the strength of ready mix concrete as they have been designed to meet the required strength grades.
Awkward or Confined Sites
A ready mix truck with a chute can access sites with restricted access far easier than carrying bags of mixed concrete around.

Weather and Timing
A single fast pour is so much easier to protect from frost and rain than trying to cover up a slow mixing process. If in doubt, cover up quickly and get the concrete down to size in the shortest time possible.
Large, structural or time sensitive jobs are best done using ready mix concrete.
